How TechLab makes money, in plain terms

Short version: TechLab is reader-supported. When you sign up for a product through a link on this site, we may earn a commission from that company — at no extra cost to you. This applies whether you arrived here from a search result, a paid ad, or a direct link.

Any link on this site that leads to Kit, AWeber, GetResponse, or another product we review or compare is typically an affiliate link, tagged with a tracking code so the company knows the referral came from TechLab. Links to Mailchimp, HubSpot, or other companies used purely for comparison purposes are not affiliate links unless stated otherwise.

Does this affect what we recommend?

The commission a company pays us has no bearing on which plan we name as the better pick in a comparison, on the numbers in our pricing tables, or on the pros and cons we list for a product. Every price and feature claim on this site is sourced directly from the vendor's own pricing and product pages, dated at the time we checked it, with the source cited on the page. Where a pick genuinely goes to the platform that pays us the smaller commission, that's what we publish.

Where prices and claims come from

We read pricing, plan limits, and feature details directly from each vendor's own website — not from press releases, other review sites, or estimates. Where a vendor doesn't publish a figure, we say so rather than guess. Every comparison and review page states the date it was last checked, since pricing in this category changes often.

Why we're telling you this

Two reasons: it's the law (the FTC requires clear disclosure of a financial relationship like this one), and because a comparison you can't trust isn't worth reading. If anything on this site ever reads like it's steering you toward a worse fit for a bigger commission, we want to hear about it.
