Operating since 1998 and the only platform in this category with a published phone number. Here's exactly what it costs, what's gated where, and who it's actually for — read straight from AWeber's own pricing page.
The three numbers people scan for, the full plan ladder, and the honest tradeoffs — before you read a word of marketing copy.
The oldest platform in this category — founded in 1998 — and the only one with a published support phone number. Free up to 500 subscribers with no time limit, then two straightforward paid tiers: Lite and Plus. A Done-For-You service exists separately for anyone who'd rather pay AWeber's team to build the first campaign than build it themselves.
$150 on Lite at 500 subscribers, $250 at 1,000, $600 at 5,000 (annual rates). Plus runs $240, $450 and $900 at those same tiers. Transaction fees are 1.0% on Lite and 0.6% on Plus — the lowest in this category by a wide margin. A creator doing $2,000/mo in sales pays roughly $144/yr in fees on Plus, versus close to $840 on Kit. If you sell through the platform, that gap alone can exceed the subscription cost.
Standard CSV export of subscribers and lists. Automations don't transfer, same as everywhere in this category. AWeber's list-based structure actually exports more predictably into other list-based tools than Kit's tag model does, so moving AWeber → Mailchimp or → GetResponse is less structurally awkward than moving away from Kit.
No comparable independent test has been published, so we show a gap rather than a number — the same honesty standard we hold every platform on this site to. What's verifiable: AWeber has operated since 1998 and staffs a dedicated deliverability team, which is a real structural advantage in maintaining sender reputation with major inbox providers over time. That's an argument, not a measurement.
Familiar and dated in equal measure. Anyone who's used email software in the last fifteen years will find it immediately navigable. Anyone who hasn't will find the interface visually old — this is the single most consistent criticism across review sites. The Done-For-You add-on exists precisely because setup defeats a lot of people: AWeber's team builds your templates, landing page and welcome sequence in about seven days for a $79 one-time fee on top of the plan.
Check this one before you buy. Sends are capped at 10x your subscriber count per month on Lite and 12x on Plus. A 1,000-subscriber Lite account gets 10,000 sends a month — fine for weekly newsletters, tight for daily sends, impossible if you segment heavily and mail each segment separately. Neither Kit nor GetResponse caps sends this way.
The editor and templates feel dated — the most consistent theme across Capterra and G2 reviews. Close behind: existing customers on older "grandfathered" pricing had that pricing eliminated starting 15 December 2024, with bills reported to rise 50–150% for long-tenured accounts. New signups were on current rates already and weren't affected, but it's worth knowing if you're evaluating AWeber based on a price a longtime user quotes you.
Not just what's included — the mechanics of each feature, read from AWeber's own feature pages and help docs.
A visual, card-based interface where every step of the subscriber journey — triggers, delays, messages and conditions — lives in one canvas. The core differentiator is Split Paths: routing subscribers down different branches based on tags, link clicks or open behavior, so buyers get a different sequence than non-buyers and clickers get different follow-ups than non-clickers.
A drag-and-drop landing page builder built so you can create the page, collect the subscriber and trigger the automation in one place, without switching tools. 3 landing pages on Lite; unlimited on Plus.
AWeber organizes subscribers into traditional lists, the model most people coming from another email tool already know — the opposite approach from Kit's single-audience, tag-only model. That familiarity cuts both ways: it's the gentler starting point for most new users, but Lite caps you at one list and one saved segment, so anyone running several distinct audiences will find themselves needing Plus (or paying for a second account) sooner than expected.
AWeber doesn't publish an auditable deliverability methodology any more than its competitors do, so there's no independent number to cite here — the same gap we flag rather than paper over everywhere on this site. What is verifiable: a deliverability team in place since 1998, and the only real phone line in this category — +1 877-293-2371 (toll-free) or +1 215-825-2196 (international), 8AM–8PM ET — on top of 24/7 chat and email.
An AI Subject Line Assistant (Plus and above), an AI writing assistant for email body copy, and AI-assisted page and signup-form building. Less distinctive than Kit's MCP integration, but functional across the core content-creation surfaces most senders actually use day to day.
Native connections to Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, PayPal and Facebook, plus hundreds more through AWeber's integration marketplace. Depth on any single integration wasn't independently verified here — check your specific stack against AWeber's integration directory before assuming full parity with a tool you're replacing.
Unique to AWeber among the three platforms on this site. For a $79 one-time fee on top of a Lite or Plus subscription, AWeber's team builds a full email system within about seven days: a custom template, two landing pages, a signup form, weekly newsletter drafts, a 1:1 onboarding call, and a 30-day window of unlimited edits while you get comfortable running it yourself.

Pricing and features move constantly, and most reviews never get updated. Here's what has actually changed at AWeber, and when.
Starting 15 December 2024, AWeber moved every legacy account onto current rates, with no exceptions. Long-tenured customers on older plans saw bills rise by roughly 50–150%; new signups were already on current pricing and weren't affected. If a longtime AWeber user quotes you a price, confirm it against the current pricing page rather than trusting it directly.
Announced 14 July 2020: a genuinely free plan for up to 500 subscribers, with no time restriction, including automation and landing pages rather than a stripped-down demo. It's still the plan most new AWeber accounts start on today.
